Iran Launches Missile Attack on U.S. Base in Qatar Following Strikes on Nuclear Sites

Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated sharply on Monday as Iran launched a missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, a key U.S. military installation in the Middle East. President Donald Trump declared the operation a “monumental success,” claiming on his social media platform, Truth Social, that “obliteration is an accurate term” to describe the damage done to Iran’s nuclear program.
“Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images,” Trump wrote on Sunday. “The biggest damage took place far below ground level. Bullseye!!!”
Damage Assessment Still Underway
Despite the president’s confident tone, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine has cautioned that a full battle damage assessment is still pending. The operation marked one of the most significant U.S. military actions in the region in recent years and has drawn both praise and criticism domestically and internationally.
Iran’s Monday response—while described by U.S. officials as “limited”—signals that Tehran is prepared to retaliate, though the nature and scale of future responses remain uncertain.
A Volatile Standoff
The missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base further fuels concerns of a broader regional conflict. The base, located southwest of Doha, Qatar, has long been a cornerstone of U.S. military power in the Middle East.
