Qatar Condemns Iranian Missile Strike on U.S. Base, Urges De-escalation and Dialogue

The government of Qatar has condemned Iran’s missile attack on the U.S. military base at Al Udeid, calling for immediate de-escalation and renewed dialogue to prevent further instability in the region.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari emphasized the gravity of the moment, stating that continued military escalation could have catastrophic global consequences.
“The continuation of the escalation in the region will only cause the undermining of security and stability not only in this region, but in the whole world,” al-Ansari warned.
Details of the Strike
According to al-Ansari, Iran launched 12 missiles in its retaliatory attack against the Al Udeid Air Base, which houses thousands of U.S. troops and is considered the United States’ most strategic military outpost in the Middle East.
Only one missile made impact, he confirmed, but no casualties or significant damage were reported.
“Praise be to God, there were no losses,” he said.
A widely circulated image captured by AFPTV/AFP showed the remnants of an intercepted Iranian missile scattered on the pavement in Qatar, highlighting the close call and the effectiveness of missile defense systems.
A Call for Diplomacy
Qatar, which hosts Al Udeid under a long-standing defense cooperation agreement with the United States, has found itself in a delicate position as tensions between Washington and Tehran rise following U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.
The Gulf nation reiterated its neutral stance, urging both the United States and Iran to return to the negotiating table and avoid further military engagement that could spill into broader regional conflict.
“We call on all parties to exercise restraint and engage in serious dialogue to restore peace and avoid an irreversible descent into war,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

The missile attack came just two days after U.S. President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — in a move that he described as a “spectacular military success.”
While Iran’s response has so far remained limited, concerns are mounting globally that further reprisals or miscalculations could drag the Middle East into a wider conflict — with Gulf states like Qatar caught in the middle.
